Financial Aid For Canadian Students: Scholarships And Loans
Personal Qualifications – Residential/Age of Study University or College Previous Course Student Financial Status There are a number of areas that need to be considered to determine whether NI offers any financial support for a full-time higher education course. Individual eligibility is usually determined at the beginning of the course and lasts until the end of the course or until the student leaves the course. So, the first condition is personal qualification This means that the student must meet residency and age criteria To be considered a UK student, every student must meet certain residency requirements A student must be below 60 years of age by September 1 to apply for a student maintenance loan If the student has previously studied a higher education course, this may also affect their eligibility for student finance And then the course is eligible, so the course must be a higher education course that attracts public funding. The most common is a first degree, such as a BSc, BA, BEng, Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma or Higher National Certificate, commonly known as an HND or HNC. Qualifying courses include Postgraduate Certificates or what we call PGCEs and some initial teacher training also known as ITT courses. Student Finance NI should also consider whether the student’s proposed university or college is publicly funded in the UK or Republic of Ireland or whether it is a private institution offering private courses.
